Let's Eat Breakfast!

Raise your hand if you love breakfast! But do you actually eat it or do you skip the morning meal? You may want that to be your February goal!


Here are some reasons to start chowing down in the morning!


1. If you have diabetes, listen up!

  • Multiple studies have shown that a bigger breakfast in the morning and a smaller dinner at night can help regular blood sugar! The same goes for non-diabetics. Did you know that your blood sugar can rise 3-4 times after eating a piece of bread at night? Even without a diagnosis of diabetes, blood sugar levels can affect our lives, and most noticeably in our mood!

2. Eating breakfast gives you a boost of energy in the morning, and can have a positive effect on metabolism!


3. Most of us have to get up in the morning, but sometimes our minds are still foggy. Eating a big breakfast can also create a clearer mind and allow us to focus on the task at hand.


4. A larger meal in the morning sets up for smaller meals throughout the day. Between a boost in metabolism and smaller meals, many people have more success with weight loss!


Although breakfast is an important part of the day, you still need to be aware of what you are feeding your body! Try and stick to sugars only in fruit and dairy, as well as whole grains!


Here’s a list of healthy breakfast foods:

  • Whole-wheat toast

  • Whole grain bagel

  • Low Fat or Greek yogurt

  • Eggs

  • Chicken

  • Turkey Bacon

  • Fruit

  • Whole grain cereal

  • Oatmeal
